As an organisation with acknowledged expertise in specialised research and technical services, Ascent has the experience needed to drive demanding projects forward – including the understanding needed to actively participate in EU FP7 projects. Our resources and expertise are always available for joint participation in larger projects and a broad range of R&D services includes consulting and outsourcing and work with all organisation types.
The Ascent special skills unit is one of our fastest growing strategic business units. It is headed by our technical director Dr John Abela, a University of Malta lecturer who has authored many research and conference papers and whose qualifications include a BSc in Mathematics, an MSc in Computer Science, and a PhD in Machine Learning.
Close collaboration with renowned international research laboratories, academic researchers and government-sponsored research programmes means we can offer a wide choice of innovative techniques for managing very large data sets and modeling complex systems. Techniques include data mining, approximation and optimization algorithms, advanced algorithms, machine learning, fuzzy logic, neural networks, SVMs, and expert systems.
